AFL needs to be rougher like the old days, not being penalised for chopping someones arms in a marking contest or bumping someone head on. AFL's at its best when the 2 teams are at each others throats and are playing hard

It's never been the same since the bloodbath Grand Final in 1945 between the glorious Bloods and the wimps from Carlton. Carlton might have won the game but South Melbourne won the battles.

It is good that a lot of the biff has been removed from the game but it has probably gone too far. A good hip and shoulder on a player with the ball has always been fair and should not be penalised as "charging". So it takes the player with the ball out of the game for a while, so what?

I agree with the high tackle rule. Ripping a player's head off, while spectacular and popular with the crowd (particularly if it is a Collingwood player on the receiving end), is not a technique that should be encouraged.

No way is it too rough! It is fast, hard hitting and high scoring. Momentum in a game can change in seconds and I reckon next to ice hockey-it is the best sport out there today. If the rest of the world only knew.

I think it is the most addictive sport there is. Even if you do not understand the rules, it gets the blood boiling. Once you understand the rules, you just want to watch more. I am a lifelong sports nut. Soccer and rugby while I grew up, the NBA, NFL and MBA when I came to America. Aussie rules is my favorite, if I could watch as many Aussie rules games, as I do English soccer, I would.
It is rough, it can get violent, but these guys are warriors, and for protection? a jockstrap and tape. Damnnn!

I don't think its too rough when you compare to some other sports. It is a contact sport so you have to take that into account. Maybe if they made protective head gear compulsory for use in under age competition it might be a good idea.
