try searching for crossword solution sites such as http://www2.oneacross.com/
It asks for a clue (that's the definition) and a pattern (that's the word you're looking for). In crossword, you always know the number of letters and occassionally a letter or two so if the clue is "fishermen use these" the pattern for a 3 letter word would be ??? and the website will return all possible answers. This might help.
