I went to the hobby store & bought several artist canvas boards. Then I gave my son some different colors of coordinating paint (a lot of newspaper down to collect spills) & let him go to town. I told him to cover every inch of the canvas. They actually look very cool & I have them hanging everywhere. At the bottom my son wrote his name in black & I wrote the year. I swear it's so neat.

I've used craft and puffy paint to decorate a onsie or t-shirt and then put our son in it - my husband loves the messages delivered on his son! For example, "Happy Birthday, Daddy! Love, Landon XOXOXO" and "Daddy's little Wolverine / Beat OSU!". I'm still waiting to make "Guess what Daddy...." on the front with "I'm a big brother" on the back. Maybe someday!

They also have a crayola product at the craft stores that's molding clay that is spongy and if you don't like the look of the the mold you can squish it up and roll it out and try again. It dries really lightweight too. We made several Christmas ornaments out of hand and footprints but you can put it in shadow boxes or frames or whatever. Our son cooperated pretty well at 11 mo's but the try it while they sleep is GREAT advice!

Another idea is to have a shirt or onsie embroidered with a cute, personal saying. Uniform shops can do this pretty inexpensively.

Take lots of pictures of your spouse and child together and then put them in a photo album with the title Mommy and Me so that once your child is bigger your spouse can go threw and look at all the times before when it was still small. IF she asks why you are takeing the pictures just tell her you thought it was a Kodac momment. I am a mother and I love looking back at when I first brought my 1 1/2 year old son home.

you could do the plaster mold of footprint/handprint when your child is asleep. I have my sons, he died of cancer and it is one of the greatest treasures I have. There is a lovely poem you may have; Here are my hands so tiny and small, for you to cherish until I am tall, please watch them as the years go by, see how they grow my hands and I.... Screen printing ink of hand prints on a cooking apron great for a bar.b.que present....Keep trying its worth it.

Handprints or foot prints. Maybe also give her/him a crayon or washable marker and see if they can color a little bit. Many babys love that. Or, I know it sounds stupid, but, if you have a piano, record your baby pushing keys on it. I know it sounds real stupid but...Other than that maybe make a scrapbook, but that doesn;t really involve baby so...I don't know...

handprints each month, just use an inkpad and paper.
