ok im aging paper for this project im doing. so i put the paper in a cup of tea/coffee. but whenever i pull it out or try to uncrumple it, it tears!! so am i doing this properly? if not tell me the proper procedures please

~First of all, you don't place the paper itself in the cup of tea. You soak a plain white, strong paper towel in the tea - (like Bounty paper towels.) then, you crumple the piece of paper a little and then lay it on the paper towel, or between two paper towels that have been soaked in the tea. After a few minutes, (maybe about 30 minutes or so), you tumble dry the piece of paper, (in the dryer with an old washcloth.)

try a lighter put it close to the paper lighty and it'll slowly turn brown

You can make paper look "OLD" but none of the techiques you mentioned can actually age the paper.. Your project is a waste of time. No chemical methodology can fake the age of a paper so why even try?
