COnsidering what they put up with, pay sucks (though it does pay well).. Be prepared to put up with grouchy patients and worried family.. U have to clean up vomit, blood, etc.. the training is VERY hard but rewarding.. They work long hours, on their feet the entire shift and get blamed for everything bad that happens.. Most MD's treat u like crap. U have to always be on ur feet..u never know when a life death situation will occur so u have to work well under pressure.

Different jobs pay different prices.. Obviously RN's pay more than LPN's but u have more training and resp. too. Know that a nurse can be sued for up to 21 years after treating a patient.

It is a very rewarding job and it's always different.. Every patient is different.. U have to learn a lot of things in nursing school. U deal with parents who have hurt their child and have to treat them like any other parent, with husbands who hurt their wives, etc.. If u can handle these things, go for it..

Nursing is an excellent job to have, although it does take very hard work and dedication to achieve your goal. If you're not sure whether nursing is for you, why dont you try to volunteer at a local nursing home for awhile. You will be exposed to the team dynamics involved with nursing, and gain a better idea of what the profession is all about. If you choose to proceed to nursing, you will have made a wonderful choice, but if you choose that nursing really isn't for you, then it will be much better having found out now than having wasted time and effort on something that you really dont want to do for the rest of your life. Good luck and best wishes.

I am currently working on my nursing degree. I know it is a lot of hard work and I am up for the challenge, because for the past 10 years I have taken care of both of my parents. They are both deceased now. I always told my husband and siblings that when it was all over I am going back to college to become a RNand I am doing it.

Well, most places need nurses (especially night shift). It can be a very stressful job. It can pay fairly well. You have to clean up after people, be around needles and blood, and put up with some irritating patients, but if you like helping people it is a very rewarding job.

If you can stomach it.. I think it is one of the most wonderful jobs to ever have.. a servant of health and care to the human race..

I have great respect for nurses..

I do not have the stomach.. and could not do it..
but if you choose this path.. you will be a blessing to many people.

Yes, it is a good profession, but you need to have an aptitude for doing the course. It does pay reasonably well, but you shouldnt shirk from doing unpleasant things for other people. You need to basically like people and have the desire to help them, before you decide to take it up.
Ask your doctor about what this involves, as he would be in a better position to tell you about the profession.
