Not sure where you got that idea. USA is still the number one "superpower" despite the conflict we are presently trying to resolve. Our economy is also doing just fine thank you.

By definition a "superpower" is based mostly upon military & economic clout. Neither of those have been diminished.

I have friends in several foreign countries, & while they are no happier about the war than we are they don't "look down" on the USA.

What blog did you read?

lets see.

We are still a very large super-power.
(3,000 soldiers dead over 6 years. you think our entire military is gone? "oh jesus, 3,000 died.. we are now a 3rd world country. Im going to go buy some burrito's from Taco Bell, who wants one?" .. thats what you sound like. Our country has over 300million people. Our Army, well over a million. 250,000 soldiers stationed in Iraq since '03. 3,000 dead since '01. Again, how are we no longer a super power? Oh, congress said so? Oh, right. ok. Gotcha!

Our economy weakened?!
you know your wrong, i can tell by your wording right there that you shyed away from saying that. You heard that somewhere and you expect someone to answer, agreeing with that statement.. so that you can know how the economy weakened. Yeeeea you know im right, hehe. Our economy is better then ever lately... unemployment rate is lower then EVER recorded... gas prices are SOOO low.. i saw 2.09 last night and i almost swirved into the wrong lane staring at it! Schooling is what is crap and, straight up, its all the Teacher's Unions fault. If gov't deserves any blame for schools now, its for not tearing apart the teachers union sooner. Social Security was a temp. solution by FDR. It wasnt meant to last... We need another temp. solution to make ends need until the war ends... until we can work on making a permanent solution to funding the elderly/handicapped. Hopefully McCain will provide that.

I already crossed out ur entire first sentence for being incorrect and all i see now is "Where is it headed?"

What? i dont f***'n know! where is what headed?!

wherever it heads dude, let the rep's do their job.

USA is and have always been a superpower, we lost more then 3,000 men in Vietnam, we loss 60,000, BUT, the USA killed over two million Vietnamese, in least then 5 years. Dam do the math that's about 400,000 Vietnamese a year while we were there.

Japan sneaks attack the USA in Hawaii, Pearl Harbor, the US responds downing over 5,000 war planes, and 700 war ships, and drops two atom bombs on Japans soil, killing and wounding over a million Japanese...

Yesterday the US knocks out a long range missile in flight over waters of Hawaii, all successfull, US war ships heads out to the Middle East from Hawaii, Pearl Harbor.

Downward spiral at present. We manufacture/make nothing. It's all hype. In 6 years Bush has brought a country to it's knees. We had a budget surplus in the 90's. Now look at us. Everyone should learn what NOT to do from our example. Don't hire a rich dim frat boy to run your company/country.

I disagree wih your superpower status report. Although we have lost face a bit, technically we maintain superior weaponry and are thus still an able threat/superpower. Although our standing military has been depleted due to this misguided and unpopular war, if called upon we still have a vast number of able bodies to draw upon if a draft is issued (if there was a real war/threat to the US) China has a huge population but is disorganized and therefore not a true match. Our size is an advantage in that respect. That and our technology. There is no one who can take us out without being annihilated themselves. Humans are violent by nature, and Americans in particular are often tagged as such. We are also clever and innovative. We were likened to a sleeping dragon by the Japanese in WW2 and I think that description is apt. We are very easy going until action is demanded.

Both in terms of economy and the military - look to our record in the 1930s-1940s when we were under real threat. I believe that that is as accurate a guage of our contry as possible. We have that potential when stressed. Right now we are in a transient state.

We need new leadership and the country will be set to rights again.

I don't think anyone is really going to challenge us as a military superpower and I'm sure no one wants to see us fail economically either, not even our enemies. If our economy fails, we'll be taking a lot of other countries with us. Don't underestimate the power of the dollar, it may bend but it's a long way from breaking. JMHO

Oh, really? We're still the biggest customer in the world. Period.

If we stopped buying from China, they'd be in a shambles.

20 years ago, everyone cried that Japan would take us over. Then their economy imploded. People now say it's China's run...

Until THIER economy implodes.

This is according to you I suppose. Don't believe your own press, you do not understand economy & superpower status.
Who do you think will replace the United States? Yea, my thought too - no one!

Status has weakened, but don;t think for a minute that the US doesn't keep the world economy afloat. Once we get solid leadership again, we will regain the respect of the world.
