Age doesn't matter when you go to college. You are not the only person who starts college late. There was one lady who started college at age 76 and graduated at age 80!

The best thing you can do for yourself is get a good education. Don't just go-go & learn. Get good grades. It's a good way to show that you are bettering yourself and leaving your past mistakes behind. There are people of all ages going to college. Because you have life experience, you will have one up on students that have only been in high school and not out on the street. Any work you do will be from a more mature viewpoint and it will be to your advantage. You will have a harder time getting a job but if a past drug user can run for president, you should be able to leave something you did at 18 way behind. At eighteen you are not mature and are expected to do stupid things. I started college at 40. There were people older than me there and certainly much younger. So what? There will be many people your age. You will find out a few years really makes no difference at all. Make yourself a game plan to succeed and get going. You have started with a good idea-education. Go!

Ah, to be 22 again - you are so young!

You have an edge over many other college students in that you've worked for a living, and have first hand knowledge of what you have to gain by getting a degree.

If you feel self conscious about being surrounded by people younger than you, consider taking courses at night, where the average age is older. I found that people who work during the day and attend classes in the evening are a lot more motivated.

Don't let shadows from your past cloud your future. You sound smart enough to learn from your mistakes. Good luck, and don't give up!

Rob, I want you to know that its never too late to start college. I am 22 and I have been going to school off and on for 3 years. Different people pursue college at different times in their lives. You will see people of many ages at school, all working toward a common goal. As for having feelings of ending your life...God loves you so much and He wants you to have an abundant and successful life. There are certain companies that will hire people with felony convictions. There is nothing to worry about. College is a great opportunity to make yourself more marketable to employers and to increase your abilities. I would encourage you to go for your dream. You can do anything you set your mind to.

Age isn't a big deal in college. I'm 22 and am about to go back after taking a 2 year break. If you're worried about being "old" don't, there are MANY people who are in their 40s, 50s and even older going to college. As for the robbery thing, I think employers will see that: 1. you were "young and dumb" and 2. you went to college afterward and stuck with it. Usually employers want to see that you can stick with something so they won't have to hire someone to take your place in a few months.

I started business college in 1994 at age 36, graduated at 37 with an AAS degree in 1995.

I worked full time for two years, enrolled in university in September 1997 at age 39 and graduated two years later the day after my 41st birthday. I worked in the daytime and went to school every Wednesday night for over two years and studied just about every weekend to complete the coursework.

I am going back to school this July to get a second associate degree in info technology at age 49 and graduate from that program at 50. I will be going to school 4 nights a week for a year this time.

You are never too old to go to school!!!

if ur concern about feeling old, dont be, theres alot of oldies with alot of reason for waiting a few years b4 starting college. and by oldies i mean (50-70 yearold) the robbery is a bit shaky, but if u did everything nessary, go do community service or whatever, and u promised not to do it again, u should be fine. its only bad if u keep robbing ppl

You think you are old? I went back to college when I was 32! It's never late to get your education. As a matter of fact, you learn till you die! Never give up on your education. I am not sure about your records but I think it is better to be an educated ex-felon than ignorant ex-felon.
