AKA is also known as most of the time as stated above. However, there are usually exceptions, and aka is not immune to exceptions...here are some alternate meanings...

Some karate circles consider aka as a word for red (reference: http://www.metu.edu.tr/home/wwwkdo/pages/shotokan/JapaneseGlossary/japaneseterminology_a.htm)

Aka is also a language spoken in Sudan (reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aka_language).

Aka was also a 2002 film that won multiple Gay & Lesbian film festivals (reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AKA_%28film%29)

The American Kickboxing Academy goes by the acronym AKA. Its based in San Jose. Check out their website http://www.akakickbox.com/

AKA can stand for the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (reference: http://www.aka1908.com/) or any other greek named fraternity/sorority with a name consisting of A___ K___ A___

Or perhaps the Aga Khan Academy in Nairobi, Mombasa, Hyderabad, Dar es Salaam, or Maputo. AKA is the private school's acronym. Reference: http://www.agakhanschools.org/kenya/akan/

The United States Navy had AKAs (also known as an Amphibious Cargo Ship or Attack Cargo Ships) before 1969...then by decree almost they became LKAs. (Reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amphibious_cargo_ship)

The aka is also part of a multihull sailboat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aka_(sailing)

There are many other definitions...the most common is also known as. If it means something else, normally the context of its use will tell you that an alternate definition is being used. Hope this helps.

AKA means "Also Known As" - in other words, a person named "Mary Jones" may be AKA as Mary Smith, Jane Jones, Sister Jones, Hot Mamma, etc. - a nickname or a slang name; but, maybe not a true birth name, or could also be a current or former married name; or, possibly, a new name after adoption; or, a form thereof: Mary Alice Smith Jones.

AKA can mean "also known as" as many have suggested but in reference to dogs it can be "American Kennel Association". Not sure where you saw the "aka" but thought I'd put my "two cents" in.

The most common English version is:

aka, a.k.a., a/k/a, and comparable, capitalized spellings are initialisms for also known as. Used to show alternative names, such as "Superman a.k.a. Clark Kent".

And then Aka or AKA may also refer to:

* Aka, burma, in Burmese martial arts, (Thaing and Bando)
* Aka language
* Akan languages

* AKA (film)
* Aka (Pygmy tribe) in Africa
* Aka (sailing)
* Aka (tribe), in Arunachal Pradesh, India
* a.k.a. Cartoon
* Aka, Fukuoka, Japan
* Aga Khan Academy
* Alpha Kappa Alpha
* American Kickboxing Academy
* Amphibious cargo ship, from its United States Navy hull classification symbol prior to 1969
* Authentication and Key Agreement
* Israeli Manpower Directorate
* Jason Akermanis, Australian rules footballer
* Australian Koi Association, a group which promotes the protection, preservation and improvement of Koi in Australia.
* AKA, a professional wrestler for Richmond Lucha Libre.
* [Aka] Amir khosro Ahmadi

So your name could be AKA, aka Richmond of Lucha Libre, from the Aka Tribe and you speak Aka. You know Judo and Aka. which you learned in the A.K.A. (American Kickboxing Academy.)
