With all the things men carry on a daily basis nowadays, what's a straight guy to do? Think about it: cell phone, ipod, PDA, checkbook, wallet, sunglasses, pens, & keys. If you ask me I think cargo pants are just as goofy as a man purse. Help!

Straight men don't carry purses for the same reason they typically don't wear makeup--society has for some reason or another deemed this socially unacceptable. Purses are probably considered "for women only" simply because they used to be unnecessary for men, who didn't have as many things to carry as women did. I don't agree with others who have claimed that purses are by nature feminine. This just isn't true. There are plenty of purses which are feminine, but it would be simple to change the styling of a purse to make it look more rugged and masculine. Unfortunately for you and other men who would like a recepticle for all your things, it just isn't socially correct for a straight man to carry a purse. Maybe that will change. For the time being, however, your choices are big pockets, a backpack or messenger bag, or tolerating the sideways glances which a "murse" might bring.

Because that would look stupid

They usually only have a cell, and keys in their pockets
sunglasses on their head
and the other stuf, I dont thin they need to carry around with them

how many people (in general) carry a checkbook or a PDA anymore.

I dont know many guys that carry pens around.

So its not very necessary

I've seen many men carry "man bags". It looks more like a backpack or a briefcase, but it serves the same purpose as a purse...to carry a cell phone, wallet, sunglasses, etc.

The world is full of things to carry things in, backpacks are a great start and all sorts of professional looking "brief case" and book bag things are available. Walk into any recreational store or an art supply, you'll find all sorts of bags and packs and if you want that manly look, just stay away from anything floral or cute. I think a lot of guys are unused to having to keep track of a purse, I know a lot of women who are getting free of them, carrying something like a Franklin planner with extra pockets.....I can't give up my Girl Scout training and have pens, pencils, note pad, kleenex, hand wipes, chapstick, safety pins along with the planner, check book, sunglasses, reading glasses, credit and store cards................

Carrying those is associated with femininity. Men are indoctrinated to be macho. Another word for macho is femiphobic. And, boys get raised to suppress their girly, and feminine, sides.
It should be as acceptable in society for men to carry those, as it is for women. There's also items men can carry, like keys, pens, books, and so on. That's instead of invariably having those in pockets.

purse is just to feminime but if you insist of using one then by all means do so. Just accept the fact that you will be criticized by the straight male figures. As long as it fufills your needs go for it. ....or you can also carry a backpag or the side bags and have the same satisfaction without the rude remarks.

-good luck.

Why dont straight men carry purses?
Way too feminine. Now, where too put everything...

Cellphone,iPod,PDA-These all have belt clips, so you could wear one of them on your belt. The other two in extra coat pockets. If it is so much of a problem, you should get a Cell Phone with all of them combined, much easier too carry around.

Checkbook, Wallet-Back pockets of jeans

Pens-Clip one onto your Checkbook

Keys-Front Pocket on jeans

Sunglasses-You should still have room in one of your back pockets for the arm of sunglasses

omg lmao...thats hilarious and cargo pants are idiotic or wifebeaters too i hate those! i am thinking how about more a backpack than a man purse..still imagine what a man purse would look like...do you think a man might want a bit of bling on his man purse??? maybe they would prefer leather over suede???

Use a back-pack. They are light weight, and you won't have to worry about looking like a fool with a purse.
