She will not burp absolutely every time you feed her. Don't worry unless you see excess gas, discomfort or spitting up. Sometimes she will just not swallow enough air to burp.

Neither one of my daughters now 6 and 3 were big burpers. If she seems uncomfortable, try laying her on her tummy, on a blanket of course and dont leave her alone, rub her back with gentle pressure and you may get her to pass some gas, or lay her on your lap cross wise hold her head and gently bounce, you would be surprised what works, and sometimes they just dont have to burp. My youngest almost never burped after feeding, and now she burps all the time! she even asked my why she burps so much!! its funny. Dont worry, if she is not uncomfortable, she does not have gas in her belly. If she is uncomfortable, try these things I mentioned or sit her in your lap sideways put your hand under her chin to support her neck lean her forward a bit but keep her steady (I know they are noodles at this age) then bounce your legs you might work one up or down (fart) but the leaning forward pressure on her belly may do the trick. Also if you are really concerned ask a doctor who might recomend Mycilyn (sp) Gas Drops. There is no set ammount of times a day your baby needs to burp or fart, let her tell you what she needs to do if her belly is hard she may have gas, if is soft and squishy, most likely she does not. Relax I know being a mom is scary at first you will get used to it, Promise!!

I do the holding the cheek thing while baby is on the lap and me patting the back, then if he doesn't burp I put him lying against my shoulder, a mix of rubbing the back up and down along with the patting. Try to keep baby awake as hard as it may be at this age. It is next to impossible to get a baby to burp while he or she is asleep.

If you are breastfeeding she prbly wont burp as often as you think she should. Even some of the better bottles today keep burping to a minimum. Just change her position a few times, rub her back from bottom to top while sitting in your lap, if that doesnt work she prbly doesnt need to burp.

My mom had this problem with me and helped me with my newborn. She would take her hand and open it wide.... Then rub them down my rib cage. It really helps. Then after that go to normal patting on the back. Also try getting up and walking and patting your baby on the back. Sometimes the rhythm will get them to burp. If she is nursed they sometimes don't burp... My baby girl is like that and doesn't burp after every feeding. Good luck and congrats on your newborn.

Call her Pediatrician and ask if you need to take her in.. before she gets a awful case of colic. Mine had to call out something to help my son. The over the counter stuff just did not cut it. Also sometimes their little burps are to feel or even hear.. but I would be worried myself.. so call her Doctor and get some reassurance. Good luck.

First calm down, a gas bubble will come out, if its in there. Maybe you are very good at feeding her and she doesn't swallow air which needs to get burped out.
Just hold her up however is comfortable and rub her back (no need to "pat" it like your Mom did) she'll burp if she needs to.

babies don't always burp after each feeding. this is normal. relax, you're doing a fine job. you can either hold her up against your shoulder and chest and rub or gently pat her back. i always sit them up and lean them forward on my knee and do the same thing. also laying them up on your knees, with your knees bent up and moving their legs up and down will help move excess air out. but, if you don't get a burp after a few minutes and the baby is not in any pain or discomfort you think is from gas, she will be fine. good luck with your new one.

The burping method that works best for me is this:
Place the palm of your hand over the baby's stomach. Now hook your thumb around the side of your baby, wrapping the rest of your fingers aroud the chest area. Your hand should be baby's only support. You may rest the baby's bottom on you knee, but allow all of the baby's weight to be placed on your supporting hand. Next, lean the baby over your hand. Cup your hand and firmly, but not excessively pat your baby's back.
