I believe they must. Why wouldn't they?

Of course they do - everyone wants those things. The thing most Americans fail to understand is that Iraqis have a different concept of what liberty and freedom are. Most Iraqis are conservative muslims and are not seeking American style libertarianism.

What they really want at the moment is to be free of the constant fear of death. How we'll get there is a mystery to me.

The problem, as it is in most countries, is that people want freedom for themselves and maybe their family and friends, but they want to be able to control everyone else. In the US we vote about how to control everyone else, who is forced to pay for what special interests, etc. In Iraq not enough people think they'll get their way through elections, either because they think their side will lose or because they think the government will be corrupt however the vote goes, so they're willing to try to use guns directly instead of voting and using the government's guns.

I'm sure they do. Why does everyone seem to think they don't? Can they read those people's minds?

What they don't get is that the guys shooting at us over there are Al Quida, not Iraqi citizens.

They came out in droves to vote inspite of major threats.
I would have to say they do. The question is are the American people willing to stand behind them & help them gain the same freedom we have?

They would if they were you or me!!! But they are Iraquis. The answer is they don't. To fight and kill each other is a tribal right!! It is in their blood, their ancestry, their long-time history. And today when so many really cool weapons are available - it is almost a game. A really sick game for really sick people.

Maybe, but is it really our responsibility to give it to them? I don't think it is something we can give to them, they have to do it themselves on their own terms.
