One of my friends has a 95 windows desktop computer, the HD has only one gigabite he has 25 different programs installed.
When I checked the HD it has 75% free space. I bought a new laptop with a 120 HD gigabites when I connect it for the first time I hade only 88% free space.

That's why I ask do you really believe in Numbers?

A lot of reasons for the descrepancy

Are you using windows 95 or a newer xp version
Also does the laptop have a lot of different programs it came with?

The number of programs has little to do with the amount of space
Graphics use a lot of space.

it is not the number of programs installed on the pc by otself.

first of all your OS (Operating system) windows 95 is an smaller program than win xp or newer OS

Second of all, software, more complex software takes up more space than less comple, more compact software. so it is ablut how big the programs are not how may are installed,

third and finally, the number of documents on your computer make an difference, the more docs (varying in size) you have on your pc the more space it is goung to take up

video files, music files, and photos take up more room on your HD than a word or PP doc

I do not beleive in numbers. I do not beleive in letters. I do not beleive in punctuation, either. Still, Windows 95 Sux donkey butt. It was tiny, and only needed a little tiny hard drive because it could only do little tiny things. Windows XP takes like 6GB or so with all of the updates and a decent anti virus program, but at least it does something besides email.

These days companies (like Dell) sell their desktop space to other companies (like Norton). The companies that pay to have their products included on your hard drive are usually sub-par quality/bloated and take up room that you probably one.

Your friend also probably has much smaller, simpler programs installed on his drive than you do.

the new laptop came with programs loaded into it and win xp takes 6 gb by itself then other triall things they loaded on there but i wouldnt sweat it you have 100 gb left and thats more than enough for many things i laughed at the one gb drive that he had but unless you edit movies or have graphic design software you wont fill that drive for a while
