friend and i have been debating about this, i dont think its illegal to just date, bf/gf wise, and sexual contact isnt either because the state the guy lives in, becuase the age of consent is 16

YES! And I know a lot of people are going to be telling you that it is "statutory rape" (that seems to be a popular conclusion) but it is not! It is called molestation/sexual abuse and you would go to prison for a very long time. I don't even see how this kind of stuff keeps coming up as questions! Seriously!

Usually it's frowned upon in general by some but actually it depends upon the state you live in (It isn't illegal, but sexual contact usually is)... checking with a local police should help...

The law told my son that there was nothing he could do to stop my granddaughter from leaving with her boyfriend at 18 but you can check with law on 17. He soon cheated on her and now she has left him. To little to late.

every state is different. make sure you check it out or you can go to jail. if you like him enough you will waite untill it is ok. my guy is 20 and1/2 and I am 43. we started to go out when he was 18 the legal age here. It was worth the waite and made our realtionship very strong.
