I am about 35 years old and have had two children. I believe that I am done, having children. Other types of birth control has given me side effects that I can't easily ignore, like when I was younger.
I am not sure what I am in for by having my tubes snipped. Is there any side effects-emotionally, physically, menstral cycle, loss of sex drive, or mood swings? I really don't have anyone who has had this done to get advice from. The doctors will tell you one thing, but I would like to knwo from some others. Thanks for the input.

It sounds like you are confusing a tubal ligation to a hysterectomy.
Having your tubes tied simply stops the egg from entering the uterus and being fertilized by the sperm. Since the operation does not affect your ovaries or uterus, it doesn't affect your hormones, your periods, your emotions, or anything else.
I had my tubes tied at 38, over 10 years ago. No side effects, no mood swings, no change in period, absolutely nothing.
The only issue was I was a little tender for a few days from the small stitches, and I felt a little hungover from the anesthetic for about a day after.
I was back at work the next day (though they recommend you take a few days off for bed rest).

I have had my tubes tied for 8 1/2 years now. I had it done at the same time I had my last child so I did not notice any side effects. My menstrual cycle is the same as it was, my sex drive is better, and I don't recall suffering from mood swings. Just make sure this is what you want to do because now that I have mine done I wish I wouldn't have.

None of the fore mentioned! I have had my tubes tied for 15 years, and it only made the lovemaking better because I knew that there was no chance of me getting pregnant. I came through with flying colors, I had them tied right after my last c-section!

i had my tubes tied after my 3rd child only side effect was my menstral cycle, other then that nothing else was effected. i should mention i had it done when i has a c-section

I had my tubes tied around your age. There are NO side effects. Please be certain you dont want any more children. I have had moments...but they pass. LOL. It will NOT effect your sex drive.

I had mine done when I was 27 .I had 3 children.No side affects for me Just make sure this is what you want.Sex is fine,No worrying about protection.Good luck
