You mean universal as "the whole world" right? Wouldn't that be a hoot!

The United States should be taking care of it's own people first. Unless I've missed something NOT watching the news or reading the paper, my opinion is the US doesn't give 2 cents about it's people. Our government could care less and here's an example: A working parent gets sick, needs expensive medicine to get well. A well parent is a working parent. This is a good parent who's paid taxes and been a role model citizen! The parent has no medical insurance because the company she worked for didn't offer any. Can't afford premiums on her own. So, the parent can't afford the medicine needed. Parent becomes so ill and needs to be hospitalized. She can't afford the hospital bill which is now over 60,000.00. Bill collectors are harrassing from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM, 7 days a week. That parent see's no way out, thinks of filing bankruptcy. Can't file bankruptcy without going to a debt counsler first. Can't afford to pay the debt counsler because the kids are hungry, the electric bill needs to be paid or it will be cut off, the gas has been turned off. Having hot water is now a luxury. Now what? I know what, that parent and kids have become another statistic. No help, no nothing. Kicked in the teeth. That parent NEEDED HELP. That parent was told by the system that help was not avaliable because she wasn't a immigrant, a pregnant teen, nor over the age of 62! That parent made just enough money not to qualify for help! That parent is ME! Those kids are mine!

If the US ever has universal health care, I won't live to see it, nor will my kids. God Bless America!

Not as long as the democrats control congress.

Three times universal health care has been before congress.

1973, 1978, 1994

In all three times, the bills never got out of committee to be voted on.

In all three cases, congress was controlled by Democrats.

The Democrats can blame TV ads all they want for killing Hillary Care, but the fact remains, the democrat chairmen of each Congressional committee, were all against Clinton's health care plan and fought each other over competing plans, until no support was left for any health care plan at all.

I hope not.

Otherwise anyone who wants a free meal will show up at the hospital with some BS problem, and the rest of us will pay for it.

I've heard that it's not unusual for Canadians to travel to US hospitals south of their border for medical care. Why would they do that if universal health care is so terrific?

No. It is not the government's job to provide you with health care. There are some things that you have to do for yourself.

Let's hope not! Cite is a story from Sweden, one of the birthplaces of socialized medicine (depending on your point of view.) The limitations of socialized medicine and a distorted view of political correctness takes away a women's right to choose her gynecologist.
