a regular mechanic wouldn't deal with the electric components would he?

The electric components don't need regular service, like a gasoline or diesel do. More than likley the only eletrical service you would need is when the batteries need to be replaced. A regular mechanic should be able to perform scheduled maintenance or any other service since it still has a gasoline engine and it is still a car. It still needs oil changes, transmission fluid changes....etc. It not that much diff than a regular car.

Well now that you have heard the crap here is the fact.
First you can't take it to your local garage. Depending on the state you live the shop must be hybrid certified. The best place at this point in time would be the dealer. Thy have mechanics that meet the states requirements. Here in Nevada We must be trained before you can work on one.

The dealership is your best choice, they'll know the most about the car. But for regular maintenance, any place should work fine, as the hybrid parts don't really get in the way and don't require any special maintenance.
