Like Mike C said the NRA website is a good source for all things firearms related but http://www.Packing.org is still my personal favorite. It not only lists which states will allow you to carry under Your states concealed permit, but it also has constant update and amendments to those rules and regulation as well as several Q & A fourmes and tools to assist you obtain your own permit. The NRA web site has this information available to incude how to legally transport firearms when travelling through states.

This is a great question because there are actually thousands of local and state laws as well as some federal ones. Most have been on the books for years. There has never been a lack of law in this area.

For example, one area that is misunderstood widely is that it has been against federal law for convicted felons to possess a handgun, purchased, borrowed or stolen. Likewise, automatic weapons require federal approval and a special license to own, transport, or store and very few such permits are granted, none without an extensive background check.
