Mass is how much stuff makes up something. Weight is a force that that mass exerts depending on gravity. w=mg. More of a physics problem.

Weight is really a measure of gravitation force. Mass is constant no matter where you are. If you take Newton's law

F=M x A where F equals force, M equals mass, and A equals acceleration due to gravity you can see the relationship between mass and weight.

Remember weight is a measure of gravitaional force. Whe we say something weight 100 pounds, that really means it weighs 100 pounds-force. On earth it will also have a mass of 100 lbs because the gravitational constant for earth is equal to the the force of gravity.

However if you take an object with 100 pounds-mass and put it on the planet jupiter, the weight will be much higher because the gravitational constant for Jupiter is much larger than that of earth.

remember, weight is a measure of gravitational force. Mass is a measure of material, and is independent of gravitational force.
