RAM! Ram stands for Random Access Memory it's the memory your computer uses to run applications. The more the better, the faster the better. ROM is read-only memory this is something that is used for certain CDs and unerasable one time use stuff.

You want RAM. make sure that you have at least 2GB of ram to run video games and a processor with over 3Ghz (whether is Pentium or Athlon). Also, I might recommend you to get a good hard disk that is SATA, this will increase the speed that you can read and access data from your hard disk, but it is not necessary (I use an IDE; a slower version)

Short answer, you want to have enough RAM. The only ROM that your PC will have is the one in the BIOS and that won't affect the performance of your PC.

dependiong on program and graphics the ram. ROM is read only memory like a bios or bootup sequence. RAM is acessed memory used for storing values with in a program for displays and other requirements used to process program. RAM changes ROM usually does not.

a good video card pref Ati or Nvidia Geforce series, atleast a good amd or intel processor that is overclockable, above 3.0mhz, 2gigs of ram, fast motherboard- asus maybe, and a power supply to keep things in line
