I know he directed some movies and tv shows. His acting in Nothing But A Man is fantastic. Would love to know if he's still working.

Granted they never explained (on or off the show) why Ivan left. But would do you think he would have had to escape to leave the show? He simply could have been transferred to another Stalag, thus keeping Klink's perfect record of 'no escapes' intact. I watched the show growing up, and only last night finished the entire 168 episode run on DVD WITH extras (DVD). And the extra's DVD showed two clips from Werner Klemperer (Klink) accepting his Emmy (even beating out Leonard Nimoy one year for Star Trek). And Werner on the 2nd win thanked all his co-stars including Leon Askin (Gen. Burkhalter), but leaving out Ivan Dixon. I don't gather it was by accident. Maybe there was some animosity felt by him for Ivan leaving the show, which I understand Werner loved playing Klink very much (even staying in character around his kids at home).

As far as I can find. he is still alive and kicking, found him on a few websites. He is listed as an actor and director but doesn't have anything credited to him since early '90s. Think he was born early 30's.
