The time to creation is measured by the temperature of the radiation all around us that came from the big bang. It is at about 3ºK, which is 3 degrees above absolute zero. It has been measured by several infrared satellites. Scientist then can figure out how long it would take for the big bang radiation to cool to that temperature.
