I don't. I still don't have a licence. I have no real need to drive as my work is close to my house. It all depends on the person but you are better off with a guy who waxes his car than one like me, who catches a bus everywhere.

They spend a lot of money on this much prized possession and cannot afford to go very far so the time is spent as you say polishing it to impress their friends and the girls. As for reving up I suppose it is the sound of manliness which projects to those that can hear just how macho they are. If they did less useless reving they would have enough fuel to actually travel around in the car. Same goes for the wheel spin starts that take thousands of miles off the life of the very costly tyres.

Some of us don't, however how many of these men actually clean under the car as that is where the rust and damage starts. I have actually seen a car that from the top looked in pristine condition fail its MOT because of rust underneath. As for revving the engines that is just a lads thing, watch a Formula ! start to see where they get it from.

Maybe they feel that the car makes up for their shortcomings. They may be ugly, boring, terrible in bad, etc, but they sure got a nice car!! I have a nice car & I try to keep it clean & shiny, but it's not the center of my universe. Maybe its all they have in their life. The revving at the stoplights is getting old, too. They think it serves some type of mechanical purpose, but it doesnt, it just wastes fuel. I'm not impressed.

Our cars is our second girlfriend or wife. we love our engine whether its a big powerful grunt from the V8 or that turbo "whoosh" sound from out turbo charged 4 cylinder. We love our car, we like it to clean so that we can show it off to other guys. Yes we do love our rides.
Maybe you should try it. Just spend time in your car, drive along somewhere, no radio, just you and the car. Put yourself in our shoes and maybe we will converted you into a car lover.
I think women who knows about cars and knows how to drive and take care of it, is very very hot.

The same reason birds strut around female birds.. It's a mating call for car fanatics.. Some guys strut in their bass boats.. other's strut by "revv" their car engines..

They love their cars and enjoy showing them off....just like women who like going to the gym, beauty parlors, and spending hours in front of the mirror. Some women like to show off their resulting hot looks like guys revving their engines.

they shouldn't rev the engine its not good for it . and it wastes gas
wax OK 2x per year.
as long as the wheels go round and round and the back seat folds down and your in it with me that's the car for me

uhm well maybe the same reason girls spend so much time on their hair or whatever they like to do....i am a girl and i like my hair AND i rev my engine and wax my car and wash it at least once a week.....worry anout yourself and not them. if it bothers you that much get a hobby
