It is John Elway. He had an excellent arm, could run the ball, was a great leader, and owns two superbowl rings. He did not lack in any aspect of the game. And I am not even an Elway fan.

Ive been watching football since a young lad haha. I can go back to remembering Johnny Unitas as a back up at the San Diego Chargers. And I dont think even then I ever seen him play. Thanks to ESPN Classics I can see him play in his glory. The game has changed so much over the years. The way they practice. The sports medicine. The equipment they wear. And now some of the new rules about how you can and cant hit a QB. Ive seen many favorites play Joe, Terry, John and Roger. Those guys were tough and very good. And I know some wont take me seriously because he hasnt won the big one......yes Peyton Manning. The man can run that two minute offense as well as Dan and John did. If not better. Ive seen Peyton bring the Colts a victory being down 21 points with less than 4 minutes in the game against Tampa Bay. He can lead off the receivers just perfect. Throw to the other side of the receiver so only he has a chance of catching the ball. As of right now he doesnt have any rings but rings show how good a team is not an individual. I think to much emphasis is based on the ring thing. Thats like stating how good a man is by his income. Peyton has many records as is right now. He has slowly chipped away at many of Dans records which people thought would never be broken. And he is setting the standard for the new QB's. He has the talent, he has the toughness and he has the motivation. There is no QB up to now that can read a defence like Peyton. Thats why Peyton calls the majority of his plays. The coaches have that much confidence in him to allow that. I could go on but I think Ive made a good case. If you are not convinced go and check some stats. Read some game scernarios and how they unfolded because of Peyton. We give all the credit to the QB. But as stated previously the game changes contantly. Johnny Unitas made $100,000 a year. Peytons making nearly on average 20 million a year. Thats just his contract with bonuses and all. Its a team sport teams win, teams lose. The QB is only one part of the puzzle. Peace out..............

Joe Montana is the best I have seen if you include every aspect. He has rings and a Super Bowl MVP. He had a great arm and could make the clutch throw. He also had the ability to keep a play going with his legs.

1 - Joe Montana - no one i would rather have in the last 2 min.
2 - Brett Favre - done more with less talent than anyone, biggest heart
3 - Johnny Unitas - total package
4 - Dan Marino - great arm, great accuracy, smart ,a ring or two and he's #1
5 - John Elway - leader, strong arm, great mobility

Just my 2 cents, hard to pick just one.

Brett Favre he has done so much with so little around him. Not a whole lot of people outside of packer fans can name his wide recievers and running backs in the nineties and thats when he put up most of his numbers. He is second in almost every statistical category for quarterbacks and he did it with out premiere options from the skilled positions.
