I was wondering what people would recomend when buying an exersaucer, and a convertable carseat. What product have you found that you loved and worked for you? Why? Any benifits to them? Any advise would be great.

I would highly recommend a Britax carseat. They are pricey, but they are safe! There are many models that you can use for infants rear facing, and then turn around to forward facing when they are older. I had the roundabout for my daughter and she is still in it at almost 4 years old since it is up to 40 pounds. There are some that you can use up to 65 pounds. So if you think about it, investing in one really safe good seat you will use for years is better than buying 2 or 3 cheaper seats that you'll end up spending the same amount of money.

As far as exersaucers, my daughter used an evenflo exersaucer which they don't even make anymore, but is very similar to the ExerSaucer® Delux Active Learning Center™. There are many similar products, but the feature that was a must is the bounce factor. So just make sure your baby can move the seat up and down because that was both my daughter's favorite part. They also liked the spinning toy and the flower/teether on it. Exersaucers are fun to take outside in the summer too. You can put a little bit of water in the bottom tray (if it is plastic) so they can feel water on their toes.

Have fun!

I looked into a lot of infant car seats. I ended up buying the Graco Safety Seat for my son. It is suppose to be very safe compared to the other car seats on the market. If you go to Babies R Us they have many well trained empolyees who can help you pick one for you. The car seat is red, silver, and black. I liked it because it can work for either a girl or boy. It is the most expensive seat I found, but safety was also my priority. As for an exersaucer I have an Evenflo. It has been just great. My son loves all of the toys on it and he also loves to jump in it. It plays music and has different settings on the volume. I believe it was around one hundred dollars. I hope this was helpful! Oh and by the way the Graco Safety Seat goes up to 30 lbs and I believe the other car seats only go up to 20 or 25. I love this because you can keep it longer than the others.

As far as safety rating the Britax Roundabout got some of the best reviews for convertible seats, and it goes up to 65 lbs. This was a bit out of our price range, so I got the 2nd rated seat which was the Evenflo Triumph. It is rated up to 40lbs so we'll still get at least a few years out of it and it is easy to install, easy to use, and you don't have to rethread the harness when you adjust the height levels.

We have the Baby Einstein activity center exersaucer and she loves it. I was a little afraid of some of the other ones because some of them have hard plastic pointy tips sticking out of some of the toys that could poke an eye if baby were to sneeze or jerk near them. I read some reviews and some parents had this happen to them, so keep that in mind when you go shopping for one.

For the exersaucer many people like the toys that pop off and are diswasher safe. Also some of the toys pop off and are usable without the saucer, personally I would rather this option than the other.

For convertable car seats the ones where you can adjust the height of the shoulder straps and the tightness of the shoulder straps without unthreading and rethreading the straps are best. Also check to see that the chest clip is easy to use. Mine "clicks" closed but sometimes the click doesn't quiet mean it has completly closed, which can be annoying.

I think the convertible car seats are great, once they reach a certain weight, that you just can't carry them anymore in the baby carseat, the convertible one is amazing. For an exersaucer, I actually got the deluxe jumperoo from Toys R Us, its a jolly jumper but has toys on it like the exerciser and plays music when they jump, my daugther is 5 months and loves it. Best think I purchased.

I've yet to see a person dislike a Britax seat. The most popular version (the marathon) goes to 65 pounds so you can have it for a long time, they are the safest, the most comfortable, the easiest to install, and the straps are super easier to get the child in and out of quickly. It's worth the extra money.

We had a "learn and groove" by leapfrog exersaucer. It was okay... but he only used it for a few months so if I had to do it again we should of gotten a cheaper one. I'm not sure it was worth the price tag.

Am excersaucer is a must! My daughter loved hers and it was a life saver, kept her busy so I could get a few things done. I had an evenflo saucer. As for car seats, I'd recommend checking out ones that are best in safety. You can check out different car seats safety at www.consumerreports.com I bought a stroller, also by evenflo that came with a car seat. This way you could take your little bundle right out of the car and into the stroller without ever having to disrupt him/her from sleeping. Great thing when you want to get some shopping done. Whatever you buy, I'd review it for its safety. Better safe than sorry. Good Luck and congrats!

Exersaucer- You know what? I was given one for my oldest boy. He liked it okay.....but preferred the walker. I bought one secondhand for my second boy....he hated it- wanted the walker. Was loaned one for my girl- by the time she could sit up in it she was crawling, and couldn't bear to be confined so, and now she's nine months and walking. And that is WAY to expensive to buy for only 3-6 months use. So- if you can borrow or get one secondhand, yeah. Otherwise, save the money.

Carseat- I have always selected mostly based on price, and have in the process discovered this: check how it will fit your vehicle. We have 3 carseats in ours at all times (one booster, one front-facing, one rear-facing) and add another booster on weekends. The boosters are horribly wide, and only one can be put in the backseat. Otherwise they push each other and sit crooked. So- make sure it fits your car, make sure it is easy to install. Don't buy a light color. Other than that, buy what you can get for a good price, (I'm not telling you to skimp on your kid's safety- these things have to meet regulations you know) and spend the difference on diapers. You're gonna need 'em.

My son loved his "jumperoo" - very fun!

For a rear facing car seat we used an Evenflow that came in a stroller system. I loved it - it snapped onto the stroller when he was too little to sit in the stroller by himself and it faced the rear in the stroller too so I could watch him as we rolled around (important for this new mommy). It also snapped onto a base that stayed in the vehicle so it was super easy to pop it in and out of the truck and we bought extra bases to put in the other truck as well as the grandparent's auto which was much cheaper than buying several car seats and easier than moving a car seat from vehicle to vehicle. The only trouble came when it got close to his first birthday - we were waiting for his official weight at the one year appt. as well as his pediatrician's go ahead before changing to a forward facing car seat - he got so big that I had a hard time lifting him in and out! However, that was more my fault - he was 24 pounds at his one year check up so I could have switched to a forward facing seat sooner. Another plus is that I can still use the stroller even though he has outgrown the car set. I am very pleased with the look, ease of use, durability and overall quality of the evenflow travel system.

We had an evenflow exersaucer that was very loud and colorful and would entertain our son for breif periods of time but he wasn't in that very long.

As a gift, we received a bouncy chair that vibrated and had a reflective mirror like arch that lit up, played songs and had three animals that hung down for him to bat at. It is designed for very young babies but it was a lifesaver and the boy LOVED it - I can still remember the songs!

Now that our son has graduated to a forward facing car seat, we bought the cosco summit deluxe seats based on safety reviews. They were easy to install, attractive and affordable. Also, our boy loves to sit in his new "big boy seat"!

Hope any of this helps!

We don't have an exersaucer so I can't recommend one. For convertable carseats, in one of our cars we have an Evenflo, and in the other we have a Cosco.
