Open it.
Remove the plates.
Scrape them raw with sandpaper.

Guaranteed easiest way for no traces of data to EVER be retrieved.

Some data can be restored from burnt (even partially melted) hard drives & crushed ones ... but not after doing this.

Take a blow torch and melt it all with it's seering heat.

Then, put it in a pan of cold water with ice, stick in a freezer overnight. And put the hard drive in a tub of battery acid.

Or you could just drop it on the ground several times a day, open it up, and run all its little parts over with your car.

One question, yet so many answers... You could crack it open and expose the "plates" to a magnet or play frisbee with them. Set it on fire, drop it in the ocean or any body of water. It all depends what kinda destruction are you into? They are very sensitive so just about anything destructive would work.

beat the crap out of it with a sledge hammer.... beyond recognition!!! Then take it out on a nearby lake with a row boat and sink the sucker.
