That stuff drives me crazy.. have you ever seen Bedazzled? This comes to mind.. when the girls says that her name is Nicole, not Nickie, because if he called her Nickie it would eventually become Nick, then just "nnn." I thought it was pretty funny. People have the tendancy to do that with any name, regarless if it were a nick name or not. If you preferred Larry, they'd start calling you Lar.. I just tell people no.. this is what I want to be called. If you say it politely and let them know it bothers you, if they are worth talking to they will respect that.
