Whether a company is non-profit or for profit should not have any factor on pay. How some non-profit companies earn their money may have a larger factor. Say it is a company that relies on donations than pay may have a factor. I work for a non-profit financial company that pays on scale with other for profit companies. The best way to get what you deserve is to look up hejob description at www.payscale.com and see what the going rate is. This way you have an idea what you should be offered, and if not, you can ask for more.

Nobody feels a kinship with insurance companies. You will be dealing with the same insurance companies except they are now going to be subsidized and they must stop refusing people with existing conditions and they must pay an endless amount. A panel appointed by the president will make the rules of what is covered and what isn't. There will be a computer program telling doctors the treatments that are permitted. Keep in mind that Medicare and Medicaid deny more claims than any other insurance. Look it up. You are under the misconception that when people don't want the government to control health care, its because they like insurance companies. Do you realize how stupid that sounds?

It depends on what type of non-profit it is. If it's an organization that helps people that others don't care much about don't expect to make much money. Examples of this would be working with the homeless, mentally ill, HIV patients. If it's a well known non-profit you could do quite well with your salary. Examples of this might be the Alzheimer's Association, Muscular Dystrophy, etc. People donate a lot of money to these organizations where a big percentage goes into the employees pockets. Which is why I rarely donate unless I know my money is going directly to the cause.

From my experience working with a non-profit organization, my salary was very similar to other for-profit companies in the area and my benefits were better. I don't know if all non-profits are like this, so you may want to ask around in your area to find out more details. Good luck!

Overall - Yes for middle and top mgmt.

Yet, there are many non profits offering good saleries there are Boys and Girls Clubs where directors make over 150K

Go in with the amount you need to make to live comfortable and not be stressed about money. If you are offered less than that - let them know in a polite way that you would love to take the job and you appriciate the work that do but that you really need to make at least X dollars.

(unless you are really desperate for a job or have other sources of income and would like to serve them)

Good luck and pray over it.

It seems that they do pay somewhat less in general. But also, they seem to have more equipment available to make the job a little easier for you. I guess it's a trade off-which is more important?

Only in general. You aren't giving enough info to give you a useful answer. Good luck tomorrow, though - focus on getting the job, not the salary yet.

Not necessarily, it varies. Some do pay well. It depends on the organization and their funding sources.
