You SHOULD have good (NOT FREE) up to date antivirus software installed.

Think about it... If it's free then how on earth could they possibly have the funds to hire the right people to stay on top of all the new viruses coming out each day? I'm all for "free" but not when it comes to antivirus.

Try Trend Micro or Symantec online scan while running in "Safe Mode with Networking".

http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice/support/index_virus.jsp

To get to "Safe Mode with Networking" tap "F8" while the PC is booting (before you see the Windows load screen). If done right you will get a menu where you can then choose "Safe Mode with Networking". Viruses can be removed easier in Safe Mode. You choose "with networking" so you'll have internet for the online scans.

Now do yourself a favor. Uninstall AVG and get yourself a REAL antivirus like Symantec AntiVirus. Doing that may even get rid of it.

Hi there,

Here's some detailed information on the Brontok infection:

The best and easiest way to remove this is by installing the Free Trial of Prevx1. This will scan your PC and remove this and any other infections free of charge.
