Is music better today than it was back then or worse? I think music back then is better. Today's music seems like it has no meaning, or if it does it's something stupid and not worth caring about. Today I feel that music is just a bunch of noise that people listen to because everyone else does. Some music is good to day but most of it is just crap. What's your opinion?

I agree with you 100 percent! Music today has lost all meaning and qualitly. I dont know how anyone could honestly think rap is good music unless theyve been brainwashed by the conformists of society to think its good because everyone else does. Music was really at its peak in the 50s and 60s. There where some great bands in the 70s and 80s as well but the quantity of them really went down. Music today really blows and I cant understand how the other people my age (im 15) like it. When it comes to music people should think for themselves and like what they like not whatever the fad is.

Both better and worse. I think the reason why a lot of people think of music in "the good 'ol days" is because of that adolescent nostalgia factor. Not too long ago I stopped and really listened to the Def Leopard song "Armeggedon it"-- a nd I was a bit horrified with myself on how much I liked it years ago.

In any time period there are the lyrically and musically sound pieces-- something like "American Pie" -- and songs like "Teen Angel" that are just bubblegummy

it depends what you mean by "back then."

popular music in the 70's was godawful, but there was a lot of great music in the 90's. there is no way a great band like nirvana or the smashing pumpkins could make it big on radio or MTV now.

almost all music made now is terrible. i always listen with an open mind, but seriously, it's trash now. except for radiohead.

I share your opinion with regard to music. I may be wrong, but it seems more "mass produced" today than it was then. Back then musicians weren't considered for a record deal unless it was believed that they could produce quality music on an everlasting basis.

Nowadays a catch phrase is enough to get radio play.

I love the music from way back. 50's to the 70's. They actually sang the songs, not screamed them. They had more meaning and better lyrics. They had a message of love and peace.

I agree. I listen to the oldies station. And I buy what I want to listen to. Most of today's music really sucks, there are a bunch of losers stealing someone else's work and making no effort to create their own original masterpiece.

Depends on the person.
Music is art for the ears instead of the eyes. There are many types of music and to say one is better then another is nothing more then opinion.
As for me, I like both.. some from old and some from today. It doesn't matter when it came out.. if it catches my ear and speaks to my heart.. its a keeper

I agree for the most part. There are still good songs, but not like there used to be. There was a great song every single day, but now it's more like every 3 or 4 months.

I agree, the music back then was much better, so much so that we are still listening to it today.....betcha won't be hearing this 'new' stuff 20 years from now.
