I recently purchased new tires for my SUV (BF Goodrich Long Trail). My front tires are now making the most awful noise like their is something hard rolling around inside the rims or hubcaps. It's extremely loud and I can hear it even at creeping speeds. It does not happen all the time and the noise does not necessarily happen in both tires at the same time, plus it varies in volume. I have noticed, the noise is exceptionally loud right after I wash the truck. I took it back to the tire dealership, they heard the noise too and checked out the tires by taking them off and looking for broken valve stems. Now they are telling me that the tires are expanding and making the noise and I should not be concerned. Well, I am concerned. Something is not right. What can this be? Prior to the new tires, I had NO noises at all. Please help me understand what the problem could be so I can have a better understanding as to how to re-approach the tire dealership to have this corrected!!

First step would be to rotate the tires. If the noise follows the tire to the rear then you have have a defective tire. If the noise stays up front its the vehcile.

Did they correct the alignment when they put the tires on? If not, I'd at least have that checked. If the alignment is off the old tires would have worn in to that alignment and probably wouldn't have made noise until you rotated them or had the alignment fixed.

If rotation or alignment don't get rid of the noise, get a different tire. The Long Trail T/A is not a particularly noisy tire - that is why it is so popular as an original equipment fitment, but they just may not like your truck.

Here is Michelin's Customer Service # 1-800-847-8475 they own BFGoodrich. I think you need to call them and get replacement tires. Your BFG's come with a ride disturbance warranty so use it.
