She pulls herself to a stand , after a while she looses her balance, and falls... and I'm affraid she'll hurt herself. Now it's not that bad cause I can catch her and she just gets scared... but I just wish her own room would be safer for her ...
I wanted to put carpet over the tile floor, but I just read a lot about the harmful chemicals in new carpet... If I buy an area rug she'll chew on the cornes! (she already did with some small rug we used to have in the living room...)
So... What should I do? Leave the floor as it is, and just be one inch behind her everytime she pulls herself to a stand?...

I NEED SOME ADVICE, PLEASE!

Thank you!

We bought the foam pads that have the letters in them, they interlock like a puzzle. Not only do they create a cushion, but they are educational too. They also keep temperature well so they don't get as cold as a tile floor would.

Good luck!

I have heard that you can actually buy a bumper helmet for babies, not sure exactly where you get them, but I know they make them. Helps protect their head and great for those that have hardwood or tile flooring. I suggest you talk to a carpet installer and ask them if its harmful to get new carpet when you have a baby, if so then purchase an area rug, shes only 9 months old so she shouldn't be in her room alone, so if shes supervised then someone is there to stop her from eating the rug. Good Luck

Try something like this (I am not necessarily endorsing this particular mat, but it's a reasonable price) http://cftoys.com/noname124.html

Our floors are hardwood and the mat we have we got from One Step Ahead I think. My son is now 7, and still likes to have it on the floor, next to his bed (his name spelled out) -- because his bed is kinda high off of the floor (it's a trundle). Though I'm sure he'll grow out of it soon. His is about 3/4 inch thick -- and his had extra blocks (pictures), but the one in the link would probably be just fine.

Just watch her so she doesn't chew, but a little chewing probably wouldn't hurt her like carpet would. (Give her a teether toy any time she tries to do that with something that shouldn't be chewed. I think stores like babies R Us carry them if you don't want to order on line.

Diapers are terrific padding. My girls had hardwood floors and tile to learn on and they are just fine, my youngest was walking at 9 months and as my husband would have liked to you cannot pad their world, falls happen its a part of learning to walk, and if you try to catch her every time and she gets scared, let her land on her tush every once and a while and say in a sing song loud way with your hands up UH OHHHH! and smile, she will laugh and get back up again, babies feed off of your energy, if you aren't nervous she wont be, she doesnt know what scared is yet, let her explore as safely as you can but be prepared for the falls, it happens, it will happen and it should happen, but do try to catch her if she goes face first, but ya know that happens too and they get up and move on. Good Luck.
