my bf and i are going to tagaytay, but we are on a very tight budget. can any1 pls give me some pointers, like when to go there, is feb a good time? wont inn/hotel owners raise prices because of valentine's day? where can we stay there? we only want 1room for us, aircontioned, and tv ofcourse, but none other than that, if that would add to the costs. Pls give me all the essentials. Thanks!

Depending on the size of your budget you can stay in a cheap place or a fancy one. The places without a view of the Taal lake run about half price. The cheapest place I know of, is a hostel just up the hill from the City Hall. (Maybe 1000 feet away). Prices don't change too much... A nice hotel, but a little out of the way is Carlos hotel and runs 1,200 peso/day The town just fills up with tourists, but I don't think Valentines day draws any great crowds. Ooops...... Bad news. Wife tells me that on Valentines day just happens to be Fiesta time here. If you're willing to come and enjoy the fiesta with everybody else, you're welcome. Just keep in mind that the roads will be choked with parades and all that.
If you show up before middle of March, you won't need an air cond. This place is 600 m above sea level and lot cooler than Manila.
