I bite my nails.

Why is this?

There are a couple of theories as to why. My favorite is fight or flight theory that says when we get upset we prepare to run or to fight. Biting off your nail tips gives you greater grip and so you could climb (as early human certainly did) or form a fist without injury to yourself. You could try behavior modification, like putting nasty tasting things on your fingers but you would do better to address the cause of your nervousness. It sounds like something big is on your mind.

There are so many solutions to this I dont know where to start.
Try putting a rubber band on your wrist and snap it hard whenever your hand goes near your mouth to bite the nails. That may be negative reinforcement but it does work.
There are so many other cures for this that I really cannot type all of them.
