Collect leaves and flowers, press them in a book, and identify the trees/plants they come from. Make a collage or another artsy project with them.

Have you ever heard of the hobby of letterboxing? It is sort of like a scavenger hunt and it's all outdoors. Check out www.letterboxing.org for more information. Basically, people hide small boxes in the wilderness or in parks, and they post clues on that website, and you seek out to find them. There's a logbook in the box, where you stamp a personal rubber stamp & sign your name (or a nickname). Also within the box is a rubber stamp that you can stamp in a personal logbook of your own, and over time, you fill up that book w/stamps. It may sound kind of silly, but it really is fun, and it's a total outdoor activity! Some of the clues also have to do with tree identification or require a compass.... The website has an FAQ section that will probably be more helpful than I can be!

I found some books that teach you to paint animals on to rocks!! Or also Little homes which I call Gnome Homes!! It is a lot of fun and some are easier than others but I have even sold some of them!! Look for rocks that resemble an animal and then sketch it out with pencil or chalk and then paint it!

If you like crafts at all, you might like to make small dioramas with natural materials, or accessories, or figures, etc.
