Will getting the new itunes delete my songs?

I have the old version, which won't let me put pictures on my nano because there's no picture tab, so I wan't the new itunes.

it deleted all my songs at first, and then I got help from one of the itunes peole and I got more than half of my music, but there was something wrong before I downloaded the new version. You need to make sure that you save your library.

Backup all your songs just to be careful, but for me I didnt have to and it worked.
