Maybe it's a dumb question but I've got a couple pairs of basketball shorts with drawstrings that have somehow gotten pulled out too far and made the shorts too tight, how do you get them back in or loosened?

I attach a small safety pin to the end, and insert it into hole. Then I scrunch the fabric back and push the safety pin up, little by little until it gets to the end.

Do you have a safety pin? If not, get some next time you are out shopping--not the really tiny or huge ones. I'm sure they have them tucked away somewhere in Rite Aid or Walgreen's, or go to the sewing department at Wal-Mart or Jo-Ann Fabrics. Open the safety pin and stick a piece of the drawstring onto the pointy part of the pin, close the pin, stick the pin into the hole of the shorts, and push the pin and fabric with your fingers until you've weaved/worked the pin and drawstring all the way around the waist band. Good luck.

i am not sure i understand the question but i can help you get the drawstring back in if it has fallen out. If the shorts are too tight, it seems like you would just feed the drawstring back in gradually from one side and pull on the waistband to loosen it. If the drawstring is completely out of the shorts, attach a safety pin to the end of it, feed that end into one of the holes, and gradually feed it around the inside of the waistband until you can feed it out the other hole. Then just remove the safety pin. Hope this helps! Best wishes!

Take a large safety pin and pin it to one end of the drawstring, and then insert that into the shorts (in the space where the drawstring normally goes). Then push the safety pin along so it threads through the entire shorts, and pull it out the other end!

A large paper clip works in a pinch too. Just something you can attach the string to and then push it through easily.

Feed the end of the drawstring in as much as you can, then use a safety pin to push it along from outside the shorts... it's hard to describe in words without being able to show you. It takes a little patience, but I've done it successfully.

Poke a safety pin through one end of the drawstring, work it through by scrunching the waistband together, holding the safety pin in place, then straightening out the waistband again. Doing this should move it though until it goes all the way around.
