I think its because their in lust and are delusioned thinking that they are really in love or its to have a big fancy wedding and show off. No wonder they end up divorced a few years later.

i would compare it to the same reason people live here..if we didn't have the weather to always compain about, too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, it would hinder many an opening conversational line
