his capture to his parents. What if his homelife was a living hell and his life with his capture better?

Life with my parents was no piece of cake, I think I would have gladly run away with almost anyone else...

When Devlin took 3 months off, he was recuperating from complications to diabetes at his parents home. His boss from the pizza shop confirmed this because when he called Devlin's Mothers house he spoke to Devlin.

Shawn was staying at the apartment alone during that time. He was often seen by neighborss riding his bike around the neighborhood, coming and going as he pleased and playing music loud during the day.

Eerily one of those pictures shows Shawn outside the very apt bldg where he was found.
Others show a boy with piercings as well as a mole on his check which is similar to the Shawn now in interviews.
It is all sad whether it is sites set up by Michael Devlin to lure more kids or Shawn on a pc & not contacting his family.
Only God, Michael, Shawn & Ben know the truth & the boys & their families need our prayers.

I do not think that is possible. I believe he was abused by his captor and was probably told either he or his family would die if he tried to escape.
Most likely he was also told that his parents did not care for him and that he was worthless . After he was abused he would have been told that his parents wouldn't want "damaged" goods back and that he was better off with his captor.
There is also a syndrome that hostages become sympathetic to the hostage takers cause . I know that shawn's parents will get him good counseling for this.

From what is known of Shawn Hornbecks parent's they seem to have a good family life. All children and teens need discipline and love.

However please note that his kidnapper took a three month leave of absence from his job. From reports from neighbors there were screams, sobbing and whimpering coming from that apartment.
I would like to know why none of them called authorities.

However you are a teenager and wanting to get out on your own. Sure it seems like fun to not have set boundries. However believe it or not children and teens secretly want them.

Please don't think I am just popping this off the top of my head. We are raising our granddaughter who before coming to live with us, had a very un restricted life. It was not easy, she tried to commit suicide several time. We have seen more counselors and psychotheripist then I care to admit.

Right now she is on the honor roll and is very happy. How do I know she tells me so.

I'm sure you would like to be where you can come and go as you please, do what you want.. However with that lifestyle also comes a lot of other things that you might not be able to do deal with.

Wow, that's so sad that you think living with a sick pervert who kidnaps kids could in any way be preferable to living with his parents. Even if they didn't have a perfect or even happy life it must've been better than being a hostage.

Sadly, I think it is entirely possible that the abuse he received from his captor was better than what he was enduring from his parents. I don't think we'll ever really know the truth.

Entirely possible, this person could have given him pornography, alcohol, gay sex, and most importantly freedom.
