during the ice/snow we had last weekend, i left them off when i turned it off so the ice could melt and since then they have their own mind worked properly except when turned off they go straight up . .

Did you have the wipers replaced? It may be a simple as removing the wiper arms while up and then replacing in a down position. I am a Chevrolet Dealer.

Sounds like bent linkage under the cowl. Did wipers get stuck to windshield? Probably need straightened.

usually when they are turned on and frozen down it bend the crank arm assembly, gm part 12494832 sells for about 66 dollars , connects motor to wiper transmission

If im not mistaken, there was a recall on that. Check with your Chevy dealer.

check the wiper park mechanism........in the wiper motor.
