i have difficulties with guitar scales
mainly about the root note
do I just play the scale straight on?
what about the notes root notes? whats so special about them?

Yes. You play the scale straight on.

The root note allows you to scale an octave higher or lower. By knowing the root note you can move to its next complimentary scale.

Make sense? It's all about fifths, octaves, and dimenished scales. Check out "sweeping arpeggios" and "sweep picking" on www.YouTube.com

They have videos that will show you what I'm talking about. This will also help you play lead solos better. Good luck.

Guitar scales are based on root notes (and others but the roots the most important). the root note determines what key the scale is played in and is very helpful when deciding what chords to play with the song/scale. hope this helps!

Your scales are also your keys, and your keys are very important. Like the key of D = d e f# g a b c# d
...... the key of B = b c# d# e f# g# a# b
........the key of F = f g a bflat c d e f
