go to start, run, then type CMD and a black window should popup. Then type IPCONFIG. It will give you your IP Address.

Have you tried system restore. Go to Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Select a date when you had your IP address. Good luck.

Windows XP has an area that you can do a "restore to an earlier time". It might do the trick.
Go to start, programs, accessories, system tools, system restore.
I always do this when my Windows XP is missing something or when I changed something I should not have.
Good Luck!
