in my opinion, the older you are the more you should have life figured out.. the more practice you have. Yet out of my family... my grandparents are the ones that are the most obnoxious to me (without even realizing it). Everyone tells me they are stuck in their ways and to show resepct. I do show it, but I dont' feel it. At their age I dont' think they have any excuse, and I feel sorry for them and can't believe they made it through life like that....

I guess for the same reasons people make excuses for kid's behavior.

You wouldn't be here if it weren't for the elderly people in your life, so lighten up. You'll be old one day too...God willing.

All elderly deserved respect for whatever reason.
An elderly person had gone thru life and has all the experience that they can share only that they are not physically strong.
You will be surprise that most of them are still able to work if given the chance and can be a big help.

Good Luck

The elderly often are dealing with multiple painful health prohlems and economic concerns and this affects the way they interact with others. Without the presence of our elders, our society would be impoverished. They provide us with wisdom, continuity, and experience. They deserve to be treated with respect. Try to get to know an elderly person and you may find it to be a delightful surprise. Not all the elderly are as you describe your grandparents.

I guess more information is needed before this question can be really answered.
BUT--the majority of the time an elderly person DOES deserve respect if for nothing more than their ages.
IMHO

It is not that people make excuse for older people's behavior, but they respect them because of age and experience. I hope you are respecting those around you.
