Is there a way to fight fever or flu without taking medications? It would be nice to know some home remedies for them.

there are things other than ibuprofins that can definitely HELP take a flu fever away:

1. lots of liquids!!! you need to drink fluids after fluids to flush away the bacteria causing you to get sick. Juices are ideal! 5-6 cups of natural (not 100% sugar suff) orange, apple, cranberry, etc. juice. Drink at least 6 cups (or 2 bottles) of water everyday.

2. sleep. dont go online or watch tv all day. sleep A LOT and try reading. reading really relaxes the mind and makes you a little tired so you can rest.

3. alternating cold and warm baths. take 2 baths a day (you dont have to wash your hair or anything, this is just for your body temperature). take a cold bath in the afternoon. the colder the better, but dont freeze yourself. then, take a hot bath at night or first thing in the morning. the baths shoulnt be over 30 minutes long.

4. food wise, eat mild, light foods. you may feel too sick to eat a large meal due to vomiting or other things, so try eating some light rice and plain yogurt on top. crackers and fruits always work! if you do happen to get really hungry though, either try soups or (if you hate soup or something) light pasta or potato french fries. stay away from fast food.

well hope these helped!!! :-)

Yes. Actually, most get over the swine flu without any need for medications The antiviral drugs available to treat the flu (like Tamiflu) aren't really all that effective anyway. The latest H1N1 Swine Flu wasn't even much more serious then the regular flu. In the case of swine flu specifically, it's not really a case of how strong your immune system is...more a case of "luck of the draw". Occasionally swine flu triggered an immune system over reaction in young healthy people with strong immune systems. Old people, who usually are the most likely to die from flu outbreaks because of their weak immune systems, were actually pretty resistant to swine flu. (We think it is similar to a virus that was going around a few decades ago, so old people developed a resistance.)

Well, then you're down to the basics; get plenty of rest, drink lots of water, juices, tea, etc., and down a couple of asprins once in awhile for good measure to make the symptoms alittle more bearable (oh, & if your mother happens to be Polish, Jewish, or related to mine- try some chicken soup. I took it just to get rid of my mother...-the Flu always stayed around a few more days...).

1 - resting

3 - and something we always do here in portugal: strong lemon tea with honey!does the trick!

Once you have the flu, it's symptom management, which varies depending on your symptoms. To accellerate your recovery, you need rest and fluids... home-made chicken broth is very nurturing and is used in many traditions for healing.

To keep illness at bay, the key is to keep your body's resistance greater than the bug/illness/virus. Maintain vitality and health by reducing your body's toxic burden (i.e. eliminate or reduce processed foods, chemicals, stress etc.) and uptake on nutrients. Fresh organic vegetable juices are a great way to deliver nutrients to your body. Rest is also vital for your body to repair when you sleep. The key to maintaining health is prevention rather than cure. It's an ongoing process. I'm happy to discuss more if you'd like to email me.

First: KEEP YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM STRONG.

AND keep your stress level low. Stress IS a factor in lowering your immune system

then eat healthy, get plenty of rest and stay hydrated. The links below go into it in a bit more depth.
Prevention is the best medicine.

Hydration and bedrest. But, the flu is a disease you should never underestimate, so you might want to have access to medicine anyway.

drink lots of orange juice and keep your self hydrated and this will help. And stay away from people who have the flu and wash your hands often.
