Check ticket prices to NZ south island. Guaranteed snow there - and not too expensive to fly.

Brisbane Snow Show

I just went through the same dilemma last year. Single mum with 3 teenagers and I just wanted to show them snow and taking them skiing. I discovered Tasmania was the cheapest believe it or not.
Flights over the internet return only cost me $582. Accommodation is much cheaper down there then anywhere on the snowfields in nsw or vic. Minimal spending money was needed cos it was so damn cold we just snuggled up by the fire place and played board games if we werent at the snow fields. The most expensive part was the hire of the equipment, but it really wasnt needed cos we enjoyed just being in the snow more than actually skiing.
Look into it...you'll be surprised!

PS That's $582 for all 4 of us by the way....not each

It has snowed on Mt Tamborine but it is a rare event. Stanthorpe gets a flurry or two most years and a substantial fall every few years but unless you are there at the time you will miss it. It will probably have melted by the time you get there from Brisbane.

Your best bet would be to watch the weather forecast during the winter and if snow is forecast for the Stanthorpe area, drive up there and wait for it.

stanthorpe snows irregullarly, some years it snow others it doesnt, I am sorry to tell you , and even then it is only for a day or so....

you best bet for snow closest to brisbane is areound the cooma area south of canberra. or on a plane to NZ. you can get one way fares to NZ for around 200 aud of one way airfares to canberra for around the 130 aud mark.... your choice of course...

if you still have your heart set on stanthorpe you will need to watch the weather patterns intensely and be ready to leave the day they say it has snowed.

either way, I wish you all the best

You will have to wait til next winter but Stanthorpe is the closest & there is no place to ski though
you'd need to go to NSW for that
