You could have the laptop setup different.I had the same problem using a linksys card with a differnt type router.I found my desktop was AES setup and the laptop was not.I changed the laptop to that setup and all is well for now.

try refreshing your network on the laptop

check to see if your router is even allowing your laptop ip to connect to it, if not try directly connecting a cat cable from your laptop to the router/modem
