give a reboot and try again...if that doesn't work then there's small force open hole next to the drive. You can fit a paperclip in there (give it a good push) and the drive will open up
ps...it will be a very small hole on the face of the drive. don't start jamming anything into an audio headphone jack

Are you referring to the cd or dvd drive? Can you see the drive when you look in explorer? To get to explorer hold down the windows key on the keyboard (between alt and crtl on bottom left) and the hit the e key. Or right click My Computer and select explore.
If you can't see it reboot. Watch to see if the green light comes on the drive while you are booting up. If it does this is good if it doesn't try explorer again to see if it is there.
If the drive is visible in explorer right click and select eject. If that doesn't work see bottom solution as you may have a disk stuck in the drive.
If it is not there (ie - CD drive D:\ )you may have a dead drive contact Dell.
Caution: Try this when the PC is off and unplugged just in case.
Look on the front of the drive and see if you have a small hole about the size of the end of a paperclip. Get a paperclip, open it up so that it is a long thin piece of wire and gently (I mean gently)push it in the hole. It should open the drive and you can remove any disk that is stuck in there.
Plug PC back in and turn on it should be ok.
I hope this helps.

There is a small hole on the front of the drive usually just to the side and below the drive door. Straighten out a paperclip and push it in till it has a bit of resistance. That should open it for you.

Well, it could be a couple things. Have you messed with anything inside? If so you could have knocked out the power connector to the Cd Rom. If you havent messed with the hardware, double check to see if its connected. If its all connected, check to see if your computer recognizes it. Right click my computer>hit Manage>hit Device manager and look for the Cd or Dvd rom. If its there and running fine, it may be a defective drive.

go to my computer, right click on the drive and click eject. if that doesnt work..theres a hole in the drive itself, take a paperclip/needle/pin and push it in the hole. if that doesnt work, take the sides of ur tower off and make sure the drives button are center with the pin to open/close the drive.

You may have a program blocking it out. Check program you have running. If that's not it, the drive may be going bad. Does it play the disk?
