Humanness is defined by the ability to think, reason and build upon knowledge. Creation is an ability that grows out of the previous; love in the sense of Eros, isn't defining, however, agape is because it is the ability to love in spite of circumstances, that would otherwise repel us. The quality of humanness is a complex matter, because we are not just creatures, but we are beings. A being has a soul that can build an altar and worship the creator.
