I prefer that my health care providers not have piercings; I prefer comfort to fashion statements. Doctors or nurses. It looks less professional. Just take them out during the work day.

I honestly think it would be way too much. You wouldn't look professional and I don't think I could trust you. If I were you, I'd take out the tongue ring. The nose piercing is okay since it is a little stud, but other than that you shouldn't get the monroe done & you should take out the tongue ring. I think people would be offended with multiple facial piercings, because once again, it's unprofessional, and maybe a little threatening.

I honestly dont think so. Im a CNA most of the girls i work with have some kind of visable peircing or tattoo. I have a eyebrow ring and tounge ring and have worked in nursing homes and home care never had a complaint by the patients only by the nurses or other aids. I wouldnt worry bout it as long as your hospital policy dont have a problem with it which im guessing they dont cause of the nose ring do what you want. Alot of the older nurses come from a generation were things were alot more strict. I think patients that come in especially in critical care could care less what piercings you have. They are more worried about themselvs at that point.!!!!!
Good luck monroe piercings are hot!

I am a 53 year old RN, worked ER, ICU, Psych and now long term care. My daughter has piercing, nose and eyebrow, tongue. She is 22. She sells real estate here and has run her own little survey. People are MORE inclined to buy when her piercings are not visible. I guess that they think she is to young to sell real estate with them. So,when she works the piercings stay home and more money goes into her already healthy bank account. She has her own home, paid cash for her SUV, is totally independent financially. I think I would leave my piercing home if it made such a difference in my income.

In nursing clinicals, we were told to only wear stud earrings - period and a watch and if we want a wedding band to cut down on the amount of germs and also to "look professional."
*Some* of your patients *may* perceive you as unprofessional. I guess it all comes down to your employers' guidellines and your desire to look conventionally professional or not.
Why not just leave that stuff for your personal time. It's not like you have to make a statement at work, right? Let your work speak for itself.

I, myself, would not be offended by your piercings, being I have piercings of my own. What I have never figured out is why people are offended by what I do to my body. It is not like I have done anything to theirs. And I highly doubt piercings will hinder you from doing your job. People just need to get a life and start worrying bout what goes in their own life and stop worrying bout what goes on yours. And as for being too much, I don't think it would be, but honestly, you are the only one who can decide if it is too much or not. If you want it and you have thought long bout getting it done, then by all means do it. If you decide you don't like or it is too much take it out, but don't let other people dictate what you do with your body. You are an individual and you know what is best or not best for you...if other people get offended by what you do to your body, well then they have issues, I think. Anyway that is my two cents on the matter.

I am also a nurse. I had my tongue peirced about 7 years ago. That isnt all that noticeable, however having any on your face would probably make patients unsure of you. Ive heard many people( patients, family members, co-workers) say that peircings are "unprofessional". It would be totally up to you though. Some people dont care what others think of them.

i personally am cool with peircings, but as a consumer i do look down upon people who have piercings in certain environments. You are a professional. in my line of work they wont even hire you if you cant appear clean cut during office hours. The people i work with take out all those things while on the job. You are a nurse not a cashier at Starbucks.
on a side note, i know you dont care what i think, but im the kind of guy who thinks one facial poercing looks good, more looks like your trying too hard. plus i never liked the Monroe. It looled good on her cause it was real, again those look like your trying hard or trying to copy her.
good luck with any decision you go with. you might prove me wrong.

Go for it. You nurses do good work and need to be given a little slack.

Sure, the more places you have for diseases to get into your body, the better....? A hospital is the perfect place for that.
For myself, I'd ask for another nurse.
