How can I set up a refuge centre for abused victims in Kenya. its been in my mind for long and the most sensible answers seem to come from this particular section. I want to make a change to the world and hope to start somewhere. Please help, it means a lot to me. Just ideas and anyone who might want to get involved.

If you are truly serious and motivated to do this (Bless you if your are!) then you may want to start by doing some serious homework. What other refuge centers are there in the world? How do they work? How are they staffed? How are they funded? How are they managed day-to-day?

When you understand the intimate details of how to run your center, you can develop and write a very detailed and clear 'game plan' for it. Then you will be ready to implement your plan by taking it to the world.

Best wishes and good luck.

Hi, I think your idea is amazing. You would probably have to check with your local politicians to see what kind of aid they need over there that civilians can help with and find out where you could get the funding for a project like that through local clubs like shriners ect. If you don't get a big enough response I would start sending out emails to get word around that this is an issue worth caring about.. get groups of people together to protest the lack of action that the country is taking. Don't give up though, you have a good heart!

A lot of big corporations like to help out for fund raising, and if you were to get the media involved, it is sure to bring a lot of attention... Have some kind of event to draw people in. Churches as well. If you are referring to actually going there to help out... Try getting a hold of Amnesty, and seeing what channels you can go through that way. I hope this helps.

Well, maybe start by forming a small organization headed by you. Then try soliciting financial assistance from families, friends etc or put an ad here at yahoo network. I hope you do well and good luck.

Personally i would stay away from there if i were you, not a safe place at all. I would think the people there need more food, clothes and medicine . Good of you to think so kindly though. Take care.
