It would be a surprise, but, the world would turn upside down if my Flyers pulled it off. The Thrashers can win it but it is still too early to tell.

I do not know why some of you would think the Thrashers don't have a good chance, do you people even watch hockey, have you seen how good they have been playing, they have some of the best up coming players. Canadians are just jealous, Northerners are more jealous because a Southern city team is doing WAY better then them, who knows if they would win the Stanley Cup, but they have a better chance then a lot of other teams this year...by the way if you love hockey you love it for the whole game, not just for your team.

Pissed off. That would be the third straight time a Cup has been awarded to a team in which the city doesn't even know what hockey is. But on the other hand, it'll give the sport a lot of exposure, and that's always good for the game. And after that realization, I'll be pissed off again because a hockey city deserves the Cup even more. lol

I would think well, if it couldn't be my team, at least it was an Eastern Conference team, unless they had knocked us out in the Eastern Conference Final, then I would ignore the fact that the Thrashers existed and deny the existence of the Stanley Cup.

Hockey is huge in ATL right now, beleive me, I know because I live in ATL. Thrashers are doing great this year and have some really good players, we are selling out every game, with no less then 18,000 fans at each game. Hockey is picking up good in the south and that is a good sign. We are first in our division and 3rd in the confrence. Sure everyone wants their own team to win but you don't have to be disrespectful that another team is doing good. ATL has more hockey spirit then a lot of northern city's I've been to.

Even though i live in raleigh and love the canes i'd be happy. Atlanta is a big southern city that would probably get some recognition and build a hockey loving fanbase.

As long as they didn't directly beat the Canes to get it, I would be glad that the cup could start another fanbase in a southern city... The more people who see hockey as the greatest sport on earth the better.
if they did beat the canes directly, I might refuse to recognize it's validity. Actually, I would probably grumble a bit, but then feel as posted above.
